Meeting of the Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights with the Slovenian Commissioner for Administration


Following the invitation of the Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights-Cyprus Ombudsman of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Maria Stylianou-Lottides, the Slovenian Commissioner for Administration Varuh človekovih pravic Republike Slovenije, Mr. Peter Svetina hold an official briefing in Nicosia. His visit confirms the excellent relations between the two institutions, which, among other things, are the result of their close cooperation within the framework of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsmen (AMO).

Mr. Svetina and Mrs. Lottides made reference to various social issues, but mainly regarding the vulnerable groups of society that are often marginalized and relegated to their Offices.
In addition, they emphasized the importance of the independence of National Human Rights Institutions and their operation based on the Paris Principles.
Mr. Svetina also supports Cyprus's efforts to acquire "A" status according to the Paris Principles, which regulate the status and operation of National Human Rights Authorities.
